About StowSheet

StowSheet is a small, independent set of calculators for the arithmetic that sits under every freight quote: density and freight class for LTL, cubic metres and container fill for ocean, dimensional and chargeable weight for parcel and air, pallet patterns, loading metres for European trucking, and the cost side of running a truck. It is written for the people who do that arithmetic for a living or because they have to: shippers and warehouse staff, small importers and exporters, e-commerce sellers, freight brokers and owner-operators.

Who runs it

The site is owned and maintained by {{OWNER_NAME}}. It is not a carrier, a broker, a freight forwarder or a software vendor, and it does not sell freight. Nobody pays to have a carrier or service mentioned.

How the calculators are built

  • Rules come from the people who set them. Divisors come from the carriers' own published guides, the density scale from NMFTA, container dimensions from carrier equipment specifications, pallet sizes from the standards bodies, and the Incoterms matrix from the ICC rules. Each page lists its sources and when they were last checked (November 2026).
  • Every formula is tested. Each tool has automated tests with known answers, including the awkward cases: mixed metric and imperial lines, fractional inches, overweight containers, boxes that don't fit, zero and very large values. The worked examples in the articles are checked against the same code.
  • Nothing you type leaves your browser. Calculations run on your device. Some tools remember your last entries in your own browser storage; nothing is sent to us.
  • No proprietary data is copied. The freight class tool applies the published density method. It does not reproduce the NMFC tariff or its item database, which belong to NMFTA.

What the site won't do

A calculator can tell you what a rule produces. It cannot tell you which NMFC item your product falls under, what your contract rate is, or how a carrier will treat a particular piece of freight at the dock. Those answers come from your carrier, your forwarder and your tariff. See the disclaimer.

How it is paid for

The site is free and may show advertising from Google AdSense. Ads are placed away from the calculator buttons and never change a result. Nothing on the site is sponsored and no carrier has paid for placement.

Found a mistake?

If a result looks wrong, a carrier has changed a divisor, or a page is unclear, please email {{CONTACT_EMAIL}} with the page, what you entered and what you expected. Corrections go into the tests as well, so the same mistake cannot come back.
