Estimates, not quotes

The calculators on StowSheet do arithmetic on the values you enter and apply published rules to them. The results are estimates for planning, packaging decisions and checking quotes and invoices. They are not freight quotes, classification rulings, customs or legal advice, and using the site does not create any professional relationship.

Freight class

The freight class calculator applies the standard NMFC density scale. It does not know your commodity. Many NMFC items carry a fixed class or their own density provisions, and only the applicable item, your carrier's tariff and any agreement you have with the carrier decide the class on the freight bill. StowSheet does not reproduce the NMFC or its item data.

Carrier rules and equipment

Dimensional weight divisors, rounding rules, chargeable weight factors, loading-metre conversions, container dimensions and payloads, and pallet specifications are taken from carriers' and standards bodies' published material and linked on each page with the month they were last checked (most recently November 2026). Contract rates often use different divisors, individual containers differ from the representative figures, and road weight limits vary by country, state and equipment.

Incoterms

The Incoterms chart summarises the default allocation of costs and risk under Incoterms® 2020. Your sales contract can vary any of it, and the chart is no substitute for the ICC's published rules or advice from a trade lawyer or customs broker.

Costs and fuel

Cost-per-mile and fuel figures depend entirely on the numbers you enter. They are not tax, accounting or financial advice.

No affiliation

StowSheet is independent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by UPS, FedEx, USPS, DHL, any other carrier, NMFTA, EPAL or the International Chamber of Commerce. Their names are used only to identify the rules a calculation follows.
